Proteins in this family have been implicated in the assembly of the large subunit of the ribosome and in telomere maintenance. Some proteins in this family contain a CCCH zinc finger. This family contains a protein called human FMR1-interacting protein NUFIP1 which is known to bind RNA and is phosphorylated upon DNA damage.
