Ponericin L family This family consists of the ponericin L family of antimicrobial peptides that are isolated from the venom of the predatory ant Pachycondyla goeldii. Ponericin L family shares similarities with dermaseptins. Ponericin L may adopt an amphipathic alpha-helical structure in polar environments and these peptides exhibit a defensive role against microbial pathogens arising from prey introduction and/or ingestion.
