Erythromycin resistance leader peptide
This family consists of erythromycin resistance gene leader peptides. These leader peptides are involved in the translational attenuation of erythromycin resistance genes. Interestingly, the consensus sequence of peptides conferring erythromycin resistance is similar to that of the leader peptides, thus indicating that a similar type of interaction between the nascent peptide and antibiotics can occur in both cases. This family also includes a small number of regions from within larger proteins from actinomycetes.
