Conserved oligomeric complex COG6, N-terminal
COG6 is a component of the conserved oligomeric Golgi (COG) complex, which is composed of eight different subunits organised in two tetramers (COG1-4 and COG5-8). COG is required for normal Golgi morphology and localisation and it is involved in intra-Golgi protein trafficking. COG subunits belong to the CATCHR (complexes associated with tethering containing helical rods) family which includes subunits of the GARP/EARP, exocyst, and Dsl1 complexes, all evolutionary related and have a conserved structural fold consisting of alpha-helical bundles in tandem at the C-terminal and a coiled-coil region at the N-terminal. This entry represents the N-terminal coiled-coil region of COG6.
