THF1 is localized to the outer plastid membrane and the stroma. THF1 has a role in sugar signalling. THF1 is also thought to have a role in chloroplast and leaf development. THF1 has been shown to play a crucial role in vesicle-mediated thylakoid membrane biogenesis.
