Catalytic domain of the Serine/Threonine Kinase, MAPK/MAK/MRK Overlapping Kinase
Serine/Threonine Kinases (STKs), MAPK/MAK/MRK Overlapping Kinase (MOK) subfamily, catalytic (c) domain. STKs catalyze the transfer of the gamma-phosphoryl group from ATP to serine/threonine residues on protein substrates. The MOK subfamily is part of a larger superfamily that includes the catalytic domains of other protein STKs, protein tyrosine kinases, RIO kinases, aminoglycoside phosphotransferase, choline kinase, and phosphoinositide 3-kinase. MOK, also called Renal tumor antigen 1 (RAGE-1), is widely expressed and is enriched in testis, kidney, lung, and brain. It is expressed in approximately 50% of renal cell carcinomas (RCC) and is a potential target for immunotherapy. MOK is stabilized by its association with the HSP90 molecular chaperone. It is induced by the transcription factor Cdx2 and may be involved in regulating intestinal epithelial development and differentiation.
