second C2H2-type zinc binding domain found in tax1-binding protein 1 (TAX1BP1) and similar proteins
TAX1BP1, also called TRAF6-binding protein (T6BP), is a novel ubiquitin-binding adaptor protein involved in the negative regulation of the NF-kappaB transcription factor, a key player in inflammatory responses, immunity and tumorigenesis. It inhibits TNF-induced apoptosis by mediating the TNFAIP3 anti-apoptotic activity. It may also play a role in the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1 signaling cascade. TAX1BP1 is degraded by caspase-3-like family proteins upon TNF-induced apoptosis. TAX1BP1 contains two C2H2-type zinc binding domains; this model corresponds to the second one.
