oxalyl-CoA decarboxylase
In a number of bacteria, including Oxalobacter formigenes from the human gut, a two-gene operon of oxc (oxalyl-CoA decarboxylase) and frc (formyl-CoA transferase) encodes a system for degrading and therefore detoxifying oxalate. Members of this family are the thiamine pyrophosphate (TPP)-containing enzyme oxalyl-CoA decarboxylase. [Cellular processes, Detoxification]
