This model represents the class II subfamily of poly(R)-hydroxyalkanoate synthases, which polymerizes hydroxyacyl-CoAs, typically with six to fourteen carbons in the hydroxyacyl backbone into aliphatic esters termed poly(R)-hydroxyalkanoic acids.
