trpE operon leader peptide TrpLE This HMM describes a variant of the trp operon leader peptide, as found in Sinohizobium meliloti and other alphaproteobacteria. In Sinohizobium meliloti, tryptophan biosynthesis genes are divided into three different operons, and only the trpE-encoding operon is proceeded by a leader peptide, designated TrpLE. This family differs substantially from that of Pfam model PF08255. Melior, et al. (2020) describe an usual activity in trans, something not previously known for leader peptides, affecting expression of antibiotic efflux proteins. |
