The thiovarsolins, named for a founding member from Streptomyces varsoviensis, are RiPPs (ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptide). As with the thioviridamides, thiovarsolin precursors are encoded in loci that encode YcaO and TfuA family proteins, suggesting post-translational modification by thioamidation.
