rpoE leader peptide RseD RseD, as described originally in Escherichia coli, is a leader peptide translationally coupled to the extracytoplasmic stress response sigma factor RpoE. It participates in the CrsA-mediated fine-tuning of the stress response. It is found also in Salmonella enterica, Cedecea neteri, etc. The corresponding locus in Klebsiella pneumoniae appears to be split into an upstream and a downstream peptide.
