With 'NEW_VIEW=true', BLAST also allows the sorting of HSPs according to several criteria using the HSP_SORT parameter. Of these criteria, sorting by 'query start' or by 'subject start' provides a much better diplay of the relative positions of the individial HSPs from the same database sequence (subject). We can use this feature to place the HSPs in the correct sequential order as shown by the example in Figure 6.10 below.
