BLAST server displays this section in two formats depending on the setting of the 'NEW_VIEW' parameters. The 'NEW_VIEW=true' setting changes the Description section to a more sophisticated display and makes available several sorting functions. It allows users to sort the database matches according to a list of criteria using the parameter DISPLAY_SORT.

In the above example, displaying the result with 'NEW_VIEW=true' and sorting it by 'Query coverage', i.e. 'DISPLAY_SORT=4' brings the genomic match of the input mRNA query to the top.
With 'NEW_VIEW=false', the Description section is displayed in a traditional format, which has truncated titles and lacks the sorting columns. Hits listed in this section are sorted by Expect values followed by scores.
