5.1.14 EXPECT

Prameter: EXPECT

Description Specifies the Expect value (significance) cutoff
Value double precision floating point
Default 10
CMD Put
Example '...&EXPECT=1e-10&...' sets this to 10 $ ^{\textrm{-10}}$ .

Note: Similar to p value in statistics, i.e., the smaller the EXPECT value is, the more significant an alignment will be. Setting this parameter to a lower value will make the search more stringent or less sensitive. Same as in wwwblast. Commandline BLAST equivalent: '-e'. For more information on statistical significance of BLAST alignment, see Dr. Altschul's 'The Statistics of Sequence Similarity Scores' at http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/BLAST/tutorial/Altschul-1.html.
