Abstract: <p> <b><i>Escherichia coli</i> O104:H4 str. LB226692</b>. <i>Escherichia coli</i> LB226692 was isolated from a patient with HUS during the May 2011 outbreak. The strain is available from the German National Consulting Laboratory for Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS) at the Institute of Hygiene, University Hospital Muenster. This strain of <i>E. coli</i> has been responsible for over 1,000 cases of bloody diarrhea and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) in Europe as of June 1, 2011.
