Family work with people with dementia

Nurs Older People. 2006 Aug;18(7):28-31. doi: 10.7748/nop.18.7.28.s16.

Abstract

Family interventions (FI) are used where there is a psychotic illness. This article argues for their use in dementia cases. It looks at the example of a family where the father had recently received a diagnosis of Lewy bodies with dementia. The focus is on the process of working with the patient and his close relatives using an adapted FI model.
