    Summary
Enables protein kinase activity. Involved in positive regulation of interferon-alpha production; protein phosphorylation; and response to virus. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including mammary gland development; osteoclast differentiation; and positive regulation of I-kappaB kinase/NF-kappaB signaling. Located in cytoplasmic side of plasma membrane. Part of CD40 receptor complex. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; genitourinary system; hemolymphoid system gland; and limb. Used to study fetal encasement syndrome. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in fetal encasement syndrome and prostate cancer. Orthologous to human CHUK (component of inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B kinase complex). RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.

    1. NM_001162410.1NP_001155882.1  inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa-B kinase subunit alpha isoform 2

      Status: VALIDATED

      Description
Transcript Variant: This variant (2) uses an alternate splice site in the 3' coding region compared to variant 1, that results in a frameshift. The encoded isoform (2) is shorter and has a distinct C-terminus compared to isoform 1.
