169 men underwent sterilization by the ligature method, 293 by the electrocoagulation method, and 229 by the attachment of clips to the resected ends of the vasa. There were 18 cases of spontaneous recanalization: 8 (6.5%) with the ligature method, 9 (3.5%) with the electrocoagulation method, and 1 (.5%) by the clip method. The clip method was shown to be the most effective of the 3 methods.
