Abstract

This paper reviews the literature on the help-seeking behaviours of alcohol-dependent and problem-drinking women. Triggers to treatment and barriers to treatment are identified and explored within the specific context of female alcohol dependency. The female alcohol literature is used to explore factors which may affect a woman's ability to enter, maintain or sustain alcohol treatment.
