Many roads lead to the lipid droplet

Cell Metab. 2008 Jun;7(6):472-3. doi: 10.1016/j.cmet.2008.05.005.

Abstract

Neutral lipid is stored in intracellular lipid droplets, whose biology remains incompletely understood. Recent work by Farese and colleagues (Guo et al., 2008) takes a systematic genome-wide approach to comprehensively identify processes regulating formation and metabolism of lipid droplets. The findings may offer novel insights into diseases involving lipid storage.
