L-arginine and malignant disease: a potential therapeutic role?

Brittenden J, Heys SD, Eremin O.

Department of Surgery, University of Aberdeen, UK.

The beneficial effects of L-arginine on nitrogen metabolism, wound healing and host defences demonstrated in animal studies have been shown to be significant in patient studies as well. With tumours, interacting effects on neoplastic cells and host defence mechanisms indicate strategies for beneficial use in cancer patients, especially in association with chemotherapy.
