Effect of methylthiouracil on the colloidopexic capacity of hepatosplenic macrophages through thyroid function depression.

The effect of methylthiouracil (MTU) on the colloidopexic capacity of rat hepatosplenic macrophages was experimentally studied. MTU administration determined the depression of the colloidopexic function tested with isamine blue. Under such conditions, thyroid insufficiency may be responsible for the decrease of the hepatosplenic colloidopexic activity. X
