Renal angiomyolipoma: diagnosis by combined ultrasound and computerized tomography

J Urol. 1979 May;121(5):675-6. doi: 10.1016/s0022-5347(17)56935-9.

Abstract

A case is presented of a 2 cm. renal angiomyolipoma. Computerized tomography demonstrated a region of low attenuation coefficient within this tumor, while B-mode ultrasound visualizes the tumor as a cluster of high amplitude echoes. The diagnosis of a renal angiomylipoma may be suspected preoperatively when this combination of findings is present with computerized tomography and ultrasound.
