The review concerns methods used by different authors for isolation of free cytoplasmic informosomes. The results of centrifugation in sucrose gradient and in density gradients, electrophoresis, ion-exchange, gel-filtration and affinity methods are described. It is concluded that these methods do not give good purification of informosomes from ribosomes and free proteins. Urgent necessity of a more careful control of the purity of informosomes isolated is emphasized.
