Desensitization to aspirin in aspirin-sensitive patients with rhino-sinusitis and asthma: a review.

    Abstract

Patients with asthma and nasal polyps have been warned to avoid aspirin because of a tendency to develop hypersensitivity reactions. It is now possible to carefully build up a tolerance to aspirin in these patients. This often leads to symptomatic improvement. It also has important implications for those patients who may require aspirin for reasons of cardiovascular disease.
