The polymerase chain reaction and cancer diagnosis

Cancer Cells. 1989 Oct;1(2):56-61.

Abstract

The introduction of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology, and its continual refinement, have had an enormous impact on many areas of molecular biology, including cancer research. This review examines several types of PCR assays that have been designed to investigate the molecular basis of cancer, in particular, those assays that have potential diagnostic applications.
