Diagnosis and management of postural tachycardia syndrome.

Author information

  • 1Chantry Bridge Medical Practice, Rotherham.

Management of postural tachycardia syndrome is challenging. Although there is no cure for the condition, a combination of pharmacological management and lifestyle changes can improve patients' quality of life. Postural tachycardia syndrome is characterised by symptoms of orthostatic intolerance, including dizziness, fatigue, tiredness, syncope and presyncope. Associated tachycardia on standing is thought to be caused by dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. This article provides an overview of postural tachycardia syndrome, including symptoms, diagnosis and management.
