[Survey attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults].

[Article in German]

ADHD is a serious illness which impedes the social adaptation process of children and youths and thus also the development of their social skills. Untreated, a high percentage of victims will suffer serious problems as adults affecting all areas of life. It is therefore advisable and necessary that adequate treatment is started for children and youths and is continued in adult life. In adult life, ADHD sufferers may be difficult to appraise in terms of penal, social and civil law, traffic law and in connection with conscription. These problems result from the core symptoms of ADHD such as inattentiveness, hyperactivity and impulsiveness, but also particularly from the varied co-morbidities.
