    Abstract

    OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this article is to describe the development of an automated tool for retrieving texts from CT dose report images.

    CONCLUSION:

Optical character recognition was adopted to perform text recognitions of CT dose report images. The developed tool is able to automate the process of analyzing multiple CT examinations, including text recognition, parsing, error correction, and exporting data to spreadsheets. The results were precise for total dose-length product (DLP) and were about 95% accurate for CT dose index and DLP of scanned series.
