Preparation of a glycan library using a variety of glycosyltrasferases.

We have comprehensively cloned genes associated with the synthesis of glycans in the human body, then translated those glycogenes into recombinant glycosyltransferases using a variety of expression systems. The library of glycans or glycopeptides having various structures can be synthesized in a test tube using various enzymes. Using the glycan library, we have recently constructed a multistage tandem mass (MS( n )) spectral library containing observed spectra. This library may be utilized as a novel tool for glycomics research, as it enables users to identify oligosaccharides very easily and quickly by spectral matching.
