    Abstract

Diazepam given i.v. to goats at 0.2 mg/kg body wt suppressed transport-induced hypercortisolaemia, hyperglycaemia, tachypnoea and tachycardia. A rebound increase in cortisol concentrations, respiratory and heart rates was seen during the recovery period after sedation.
