Abstract
PURPOSE: We present a case of a 33-year-old woman with nonspecific systemic symptoms (fatigue, weakness), widespread pains, sleep disorders, morning stiffness, accompanied by symptoms from the autonomic nervous system (chest pain, digestive tract disorders, hyperesthesia of the skin, dizziness, paresthesia with a feeling of coldness in hands and feet, excessive sweating, breath problems, palpitations). The diagnostic process was difficult and it took a long time to establish the diagnosis partly because of problems in cooperating with this patient. During several years, the woman was hospitalized at several specialist departments, underwent many consultations, laboratory tests, and imaging studies. Finally, fibromyalgia was diagnosed. CONCLUSIONS: Treatment was implemented with good results improving the quality of life of this patient.
