Technical evaluation of the new thin layer device CellSlide (Menarini Diagnostics).

The CellSlide Processor (Menarini Diagnostics) is an automatic computer-controlled instrument, designed to prepare standardized, thin-layer cytological preparations using a filtration process. In this report, this new processor has been tested in a multicentric investigation, designed to evaluate cell recovery, cellular morphology and possible time saved in reading the slide. The results of this study show that the CellSlide processing system is suitable for use in the preparation of liquid-based gynaecology samples. Furthermore, the high-quality smear produced by the CellSlide decreases the reading time by approximately 20-25%. Copyright 2005 Wiley-Liss, Inc
