New tracking systems improve patient flow

ED Manag. 2005 Aug;17(8):91-2.

Abstract

Wireless or infrared tracking systems can help you keep a handle on patient whereabouts, the status of tests that have been ordered, and locate important equipment in a more timely manner. Managers can track activities in admissions, lab, and pharmacy from a single location. Staff no longer has to spend time looking for patients, equipment, or each other. Key information is not only visible on a central monitor, but on every desktop computer in the ED.
