By the way, doctor. I've been on warfarin (Coumadin) since 1979 after having a Starr-Edwards valve put in. The cardiologist insists on aggressive therapy and wants my INR at 3.5. But I've had several serious bleeds in the past year and was hospitalized three times. What's the current thinking about adequate INR levels for patients with metal heart valves?
