Planned Parenthood Association of Kansas City v. Ashcroft.

KIE: A Missouri statute which required that abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy be performed in a hospital was held unconstitutional, but three other state statutes were found to be valid. The state was permitted to require a pathology report for each abortion performed, to require the presence of a second physician during abortions performed after viability, and to require minors to secure parental or court consent for an abortion. The valid requirements were upheld on the grounds that they were reasonably related to accepted medical standards, and that there was a compelling state interest in protecting viable fetuses.
