[Changes in physico-chemical properties of biological membranes in development of tolerance to ethanol]

Abstract

Ethanol can directly influence biological membranes, and increase membrane fluidity. This leads to changes in the liquid-crystal state of membranes. These changes affect membrane transport, transmembrane signal transduction and activity of membrane bound enzymes.
