Newborns with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) present challenges for the neonatal intensive-care nurse. Despite these improvements, the mortality rate for this condition remains high. An understanding of the anatomical basis and new treatment modalities for this condition will prepare nurses to care for these newborns.
