Will there be a live-attenuated HIV vaccine available for human safety trials by the year 2000? Interview by Gordon Nary.

    Abstract

    AIDS:

Ronald C. Desrosiers is interviewed about the possibility of using a live-attenuated HIV vaccine in human trials. Desrosiers describes the processes that were used to develop a vaccine for SIV and talks about moving the trials from monkeys to humans. He proposes that terminally ill patients be allowed to receive the vaccine, since data from these patients could speed up the possibility of trials with healthy humans.
