    Abstract

Basic research in spinal cord regeneration, neurological recovery after medical or surgical primary treatment, and electrostimulation of muscles, nerves, diaphragm, bladder and bowel are covered in this review. The best results are obtained in bladder and bowel stimulation. Basic research seems to provide new hopes for paralyzed individuals.
