B. juncea (Indian mustard) is a major oilseed crop. It is a polyploid having AABB genome type and 18 haploid chromosomes. It contains high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids which make it healthy for human consumption. Several varieties of B. juncea are drought and heat tolerant.
