USDA-ARS Bovine Full-Length Insert cDNA ProjectOVERVIEWThe Genetics and Breeding Research Unit (GBRU) at the United States Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) and the Bovine Functional Genomics Laboratory (BFGL) at the Beltsville Area Research Center (BARC)* collaborated to generate 265,776 5' EST sequences from eight bovine pooled-tissue libraries, three of which were created using full-length enrichment strategies. The objective of this project was to identify a set of clones predicted to contain the full CDS of the cognate gene, and sequence over 1000 bovine full-length insert cDNAs (bFLICs) representing unique bovine genes. To date, 1304 bFLICs have been submitted to Genbank, representing 1045 unique bovine genes. Most clones (from libraries designated 1BOV through 5BOV) are distributed by BACPAC Resources - Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute, while clones from the full-length enriched libraries (8BOV through 10BOV) are distributed by Tad Sonstegard at BARC (request from tads@anri.barc.usda.gov).
