GenomesMacroSend Direct Submission
|
About this Tool
This page allows you to send large files for Complete Genomes and Transcriptome Shotgun Assembly (TSA)
submissions directly to GenBank. It is provided as an alternative to attaching those files to e-mail
messages, which can sometimes lead to e-mail delivery system problems such as encoded or corrupted
messages, or to file truncation that can occur with very large files. The files should be .sqn submission
files, prepared by Sequin or tbl2asn. The files may be compressed, to allow faster transfer times.
NEW: Incomplete/wgs genomes are to be submitted via the new Genomes(WGS) submission portal.
What to Submit
Use this tool to send one or more files to GenBank for the submission of complete (no gaps or Ns that represent gaps)
genomes of prokaryotes or eukaryotes, or TSA submissions. This tool can also be used to send updates of your
complete prokaryotic or eukaryotic genomes.
NEW: Incomplete/wgs genomes are to be submitted via the new Genomes(WGS) submission portal .
In addition, this tool should not be used to submit other sequences to GenBank, including complete organelles, complete viruses or complete bacteriophages. You may submit those complete genomes for regular GenBank processing via SequinMacroSend. Do not use either of these tools to submit EST, GSS, or STS data.
The "Browse..." function below allows you to select the file you want to submit. Click on "Add more files..."
each time youneed to choose another file to be uploaded.
Submission files are:
Sequin (*.sqn) ASN.1 files, which can be
generated with Sequin
(by choosing "Prepare Submission" under the File menu) or the tbl2asn Sequin
utility (a command line program that automates parts of the submission process
for multiple submissions or for large sequences, such as complete genomes)
Completing this Form
Please provide the information requested in the individual fields below (*=required).
In the 'Comments' box, indicate the number of files being uploaded and whether they include annotationor not.
Check the appropriate box to indicate whether it is a Complete Genome, or Transcriptome Shotgun Assembly (TSA).
Click on the 'Submit' button to upload your files, and they will be sent to the GenBank Genomes staff for processing.
If the genome has any gaps, then prepare the submission according to the WGS instructions and use the new Genomes(WGS) submission portal .
Confirmation of Receipt and Temporary ID number
Immediately after completing the form, you will receive an automatically generated email, informing you that we have received your files. The subject line of this email will include a submission's temporary identifier, a GDSub number. This is not the final accession number and therefore should not be used for publication. Until you receive your GenBank accession number, please include your GDSub number in any communication with GenBank staff about the submission.
Processing of your Submission
Once we receive your genome submission, a member of the Genomes or TSA staff will conduct an initial review of it and will contact you by email, usually within five working days. If you have not heard from us within this time-frame and wish to inquire about the status of your submission, please send an e-mail to genomes@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov. Please be sure to state the e-mail address that you provided below and that you submitted using the GenomesMacroSend submission tool. In addition, include the submission's GDSub number.
Register Project
Please register your project with the Genome Project database at https://submit.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/subs/bioproject , if you have not already done so. If you have changes for a project that is already registered, send them to genomeprj@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov and include the BioProject ID.
Need Help?
If you have questions about using this tool or need help with Sequin or tbl2asn, please contact GenBank User Support at 301-496-2475 or send an email to info@ncbi.nlm.nih.gov .
