Data Available to the Public

Selected summary data on the GeneTests Web site is available on the home page.

Additionally, certain data reports from the GeneTests Laboratory Directory (a voluntary listing of laboratories offering molecular genetic testing, specialized cytogenetic testing, and biochemical genetic testing) and the GeneTests Clinic Directory are available to the public free of charge. The reports are text files that can be downloaded from ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pub/GeneTests/reports/ and viewed as is or imported into an Excel spreadsheet.

Note:

• The GeneTests Laboratory Directory is not all inclusive; laboratories offering testing may not be included.
• Information on the following is not available:
  • Number of genetic tests performed per year in the US
  • Cost of genetic testing
  • Number of laboratories performing genetic testing in the US or in the world
  • New genetic tests that may be available in the future
  • Names and manufacturers of commercially available molecular diagnostic tests
