1.

Lamivudine

A reverse transcriptase inhibitor and ZALCITABINE analog in which a sulfur atom replaces the 3' carbon of the pentose ring. It is used to treat HIV disease. [from MeSH]

MedGen UID:
64917
Concept ID:
C0209738
Pharmacologic Substance
2.

Zidovudine

an antiviral drug used in the treatment of AIDS [from CHV]

MedGen UID:
21959
Concept ID:
C0043474
Pharmacologic Substance
3.

Didanosine

A dideoxynucleoside compound in which the 3'-hydroxy group on the sugar moiety has been replaced by a hydrogen. This modification prevents the formation of phosphodiester linkages which are needed for the completion of nucleic acid chains. Didanosine is a potent inhibitor of HIV replication, acting as a chain-terminator of viral DNA by binding to reverse transcriptase; ddI is then metabolized to dideoxyadenosine triphosphate, its putative active metabolite. [from MeSH]

MedGen UID:
4286
Concept ID:
C0012133
Pharmacologic Substance
4.

Pediatric AIDS

AIDS related research with a minimum of 20% (or $100,000) research efforts related to children 0-18 years of age. To include: Pregnant women, Neonates, Infants [from NCI]

MedGen UID:
68648
Concept ID:
C0237967
Disease or Syndrome
5.
