Ignicoccus hospitalis

Hyperthermophilic archaeon

Lineage: Archaea[347]; Crenarchaeota[56]; Thermoprotei[42]; Desulfurococcales[14]; Desulfurococcaceae[12]; Ignicoccus[1]; Ignicoccus hospitalis[1]
Ignicoccus hospitalis. Ignicoccus hospitalis, an anaerobic, hyperthermophilic, chemoautolithotroph, uses hydrogen to reduce elemental sulfur and produce hydrogen sulfide. This organism is also moderately halophilic and acidophilic. Ignicoccus hospitalis is the host organism for Nanoarchaeum equitans.
