The horse, Equus caballus, has played a crucial role in the development of human civilization. It has economic importance throughout the world and is used for transportation, work, entertainment, and even war. It is a model organism for research on biomechanics and excercise physiology. The genome sequence will facilitate the identification of genes involved in mammalian evolution and genes involved in diseases common to humans and horses.

This site brings together information about horse data available at NCBI and other related resources from the research community, including sequence, mapping, and clone information. We welcome your suggestions.
