    Summary
This gene encodes a member of the Kruppel-type (C2H2) zinc finger protein family. It has a KRAB-A box at its amino terminus and seven consecutively repeated zinc finger motifs at its carboxy terminus. Expression of this gene is increased after vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) stimulation in human leukemia cell lines and its expression inhibits apoptotic cell death induced by irradiation or exposure to etoposide. These attributes suggest that this protein may act as a transcription factor. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct proteins. Additional transcript variants have been described for this gene but their biological validity has not been confirmed. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome 14. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
