The wavelength is 647nm (242) that stimulates a mixture of cat red cone and rod responses. B. The wavelength is 441nm (blue) and dim enough to stimulate only rods. Rod and cone receptive fields share a common center, but differ in size. The continuous curves are generated by the conductive sheet model, with a space constant of 250 μm in A. and 200 μm in B.
